Fruit Haul – June 9th, 2014

IMG_1509

Mangoes, Bananas, Dates

We didn’t get a lot of fruit this week, instead we got a lot of calories. Citrus isn’t in season, the melons we usually get haven’t been the best, the pineapples aren’t sweetening like before and stone fruit need another month before they’re ready; we stuck with the raw vegan staples for this week: bananas, mangoes and dates!

Ciruli Brothers Champagne Mangoes

I’m not too sure how much longer we’ll be able to ride the Ciruli Brothers champagne mango train because we’ve noticed that they’re not all sweetening the way they were the last month. It’s sad to think that they may be coming to an end, but berry season is here and other fruits will be available soon. We’re going berry picking again this weekend, woot woot!

Bananas

Last week was our first case of bananas in months and it was amazing. I really need to dedicate an entire post to all the benefits of bananas because in the few days that it took us to take down a case we were feeling better than we had in several months. I feel like they are the perfect food for humans.

Organic Medjool Dates

Dried fruit has always been candy to me and dates are ooey gooey goodness. We’ve gone through dozens of cases over the years, but I’ve never had a dateorade, which is exactly why I got these (thanks Freelee).

Fruit Haul – June 2nd, 2014

IMG_1434

Cantaloupe, Bananas, Pineapple, Watermelon, Mangoes, Spinach

Another week, another fruit haul. We’re going fully raw for a few days to clean out our systems after last week’s food poisoning debacle (read about it here). So, we needed a few more calorie dense items to add to our dried figs and prunes that carried over from our las haul (seen here) and picked up a case of bananas and lots of CIRULI BROTHERS MANGOES!!!

IMG_1437

Ciruli Brothers Champagne Mangoes

The best damn mangoes ever, the fruit of poetry and prose (or should be), sweet, juicy, blah, blah, blah… You’ve heard me ramble on about these long enough. We picked up six cases and they’re looking pretty green so it’ll be a while before we get to dig into them.

IMG_1438

Organic Baby Spinach

Sometimes a girl just wants some leafy vegetables to add to her smoothies. My bodies been craving greens lately and it’s important to listen to your body, it’ll tell you more than just hunger and thirst.

IMG_1439

Dulcinea Seedless Watermelons

A stable in my summer diet because any other time of the year watermelons taste like a foamy cucumber (let me know if you know what I’m talking about). Love these and lately I’ve taken to juicing them.

IMG_1440

Bananas!

Every fruitarian’s wet dream (creamy dream would be more accurate). Also, after binging on Freelee and Durianriders videos I’ve had a hankering for some banana smoothies.

IMG_1441

Cantaloupe

Just like the watermelon, cantaloupe if a summer staple and I’ve really been enjoying juicing them. They’re so sweet and refreshing and when juiced provide a caloric boost compared to plain water.

IMG_1442

Delmonte Gold Pineapples

I’ve just realized just how much I’ve been juicing lately, because I love juicing these pineapples too! They’re on the green side so we’re going to have to wait a few days before we can consume them; sad panda.

What did you stock up on this week?

Fruit Haul – May 19th, 2014

Another week, another fruit order. We still had a few things left over from last week, so this was a small order. This is just enough to get us through this week until our next order.

IMG_1248

Mangoes, Pineapple, Watermelon, Oranges and Grapes

There are a few repeats, but they were so good we didn’t want to pass up on them. We’re really looking forward to berry season, we plan on going out to the farms and picking our own. There are plenty of farms to choose from here and have visited a few over the years, never have they disappointed.

IMG_1255

Dulcinea Watermelons

These were awesome last week, super read and super sweet. So far they’re the best watermelons we’ve tried this year.

IMG_1262

Delmonte Gold Pineapple

These are a bit smaller than the ones we got last week, those were a six count and these are a seven. They will still be delicious, last weeks’ were the bomb!

IMG_1263

Valencia Oranges

If we plan on eating oranges we usually go for Cara Caras, but we plan on juicing them so these Valencias are perfect for that. I know we’re not really in the season for citrus anymore, but they’ve still been quite sweet.

IMG_1264

 Welch’s Red Seedless Grapes

My husband and I have recently taken to juicing these. They’re incredibly sweet and a nice tall glass is very refreshing. Of course, we eat them whole too.

IMG_1269

Ciruli Brothers Champagne Mangoes

If you know anything about us, it’s that we love Ciruli Brothers Champagne Mangoes. They are the most consistently ripe, sweet, creamy mangoes we have found to date. When we buy them we usually get 8-10 cases, this week, however, we didn’t. Our last batch was pretty shitty due to refrigeration issues during transportation (so we were told), this left the inside rotten. Consequently, we’re a bit weary and only got two cases this time around. Hopefully they’re wonderful and we can get a few more cases next Monday.
